This project was incredibly interesting to explore. Creating something new from an existing concept was a challenge but enlightening. I picked Saul Bass’s work to base my album cover design on because I really enjoyed his style of art which is modernist and minimalist. This album is based on his poster for the movie Anatomy of a Murder which showcased a deep contrast orangey background with shapes formulating the body and the words of the title inside the shapes. I wanted to replicate this style with the artist Ricky Montgomery and their title “Talk to you” which is about the loss of his dad. I thought the skeleton hand could represent a reaching out to touch and create a connection.
